Right now I'm sitting in my room in Las Vegas. It seems that no matter how many times I leave, I keep coming back. The YWAM Vegas staff crack jokes about that and keep asking me why I don't just stay here. Though at times when I'm stuck in Hickville, ID out in the middle of no where wishing there was someone to talk to or a fast food place to grab a burger, it seems tempting, but I don't think that will happen. I love being in Vegas and I love the people I get to work with. I also love the warm weather. Especially since the weather at home right now isn't making me happy. It's like it's trying to trick us. One day it's nice and kinda warm, the next day it's snowing!
Anways....enough ranting about the weather. Right now I'm in Vegas because I'm helping Sam out with Mission Adventures. We have about 55 kids/adults here from 2 different churches in California. We're only 2 days into it and I'm already worn out. I think the students are starting to open up more to the idea of "evangelising" and they're getting better. It just took a push to get the ball rolling. I am also starting to warm up to them a little and I'm enjoying it more and more.
So far we have done free prayer and surveys. Both have gone fairly well. My personal favorite is free prayer. Basically with that you all walk around a certain area and ask people if you can pray for them. With surveys we have a clipboard and a short belief survey. The survey's soul purpose is to be a door to share the Gospel. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I used the survey on a guy tonight who was open and told me what he believes, and then I asked if I could share what I believe with him. I told him I think God is loving, just, and merciful, and he proceeded to tell me all the reasons why God isn't those things. He did so only using Bible stories. I understand where his points were coming from, but he didn't really give me a chance to give my opinion. He wasn't mean at all. Our conversation came to an end when he's wife forced him to leave. I think it was good, but I'm bummed I didn't have more time to talk to him.
Wow...well this is getting a little long so for now I'll shut up! Good night!
